5 Exercises to Help Improve Balance In Peripheral Neuropathy | Dr. Ole Olson, Asuta Health People with peripheral neuropathy often have balance problems because they can't feel their feet well, making it hard to know where they are stepping. Weak muscles due to nerve damage make it tough to stand and walk steadily. They also struggle to sense the position of their legs (also called proprioception), leading to unsteady movements. Pain and foot problems can change how they walk, causing more balance issues. Balance exercises are important for patients with peripheral neuropathy because they help improve stability and reduce the risk of falls. These exercises strengthen the muscles needed for balance and walking, making movements more steady and controlled.
