Technically the Ford Focus is an American car since it's built in Michigan and sold all over the U.S. Really though you should think of the Focus as a European model. If you buy a Ford Focus in Europe there are a bunch of different gas and diesel engine options to choose from. Here in the U.S. the only available choice is a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder that makes 160 horsepower and 146 lb-ft. of torque. Fuel economy is 26 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway. The base price on the Ford Focus is $16,800 and the SE Sedan model tested here goes for $18,615. Ford offers the Focus with an automatic or a manual transmission. One concession that was made for the American market was the fact that a sedan model is being offer. The car is still a compact so there is not a ton of room in the back seat. The bottom seat cushion is supportive and there is descent leg room. The 2014 Ford Focus does drive well.
