Dunamoney Flute Band Solo Parade, before their Main Annual Parade 2026 @ Magherafelt

I originally planned to travel to Carrickfergus for The Royal Landing parade, but with diesel prices so high, it was a long way to go. So instead, I left a day early and stopped off at Magherafelt to watch the massive parade held by Dunamoney Flute Band — and it turned out to be much more than just a normal annual parade. The event began in the car park with Ulster Scots dancers, followed by Dunamoney Flute Band’s solo parade around the town. A cannon was fired to mark the start of the main parade, which filled the streets with colour and music. As the parade drew to a close, the band held back in the town centre while a ten‑minute fireworks display lit up the sky. They then paraded back to the main car park, playing a few extra tunes before finishing with the National Anthem.
