ELISA Principles and Troubleshooting

An ELISA, or enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay is a technique used to quantify the presence of antigen in biological samples. An ELISA, like other types of immunoassays, relies on antibodies to detect a target antigen by using highly specific antibody-antigen interactions. In this video, we briefly review the basic principles of this assay and cover the troubleshooting process for common problems that occur. This video was made by McMaster University students Vidthiya Jeyanathan, Walter Le, Valeriya Repnikova, and Jasmeen Singh in collaboration with the Demystifying Research McMaster Program.
