Encuentro con los escritores Paul Tremblay, Stephen Graham Jones y Tim Prat. Sui Generis Madrid

On November 18, 2023, as part of the fifteenth edition of our Sui Generis Madrid festival, we awarded the Sheridan Le Fanu Prize to various writers, popularizers, and publishers who, in one way or another, not only keep the flame of fantasy literature alive but also continue to nurture it. And in the creative writing category, our award recognizes the still-active literary careers of three incredible writers, awarded worldwide, authors of some of the most surprising novels of recent years. Paul Tremblay (published in Spain by Nocturna), one of the most ambitious writers of recent decades, possesses an all-encompassing vision of fantasy literature. Traveling through the pages of his works is to delve into the realm of possibility, a constant interplay between what is real and what is not. From a supposed demonic possession in A Head Full of Ghosts to a final sacrifice to halt the ultimate destruction of humanity in *The Cabin at the End of the Universe*. The literature of Stephen Graham Jones (published in Spain by La biblioteca de Carfax) is nourished by various fundamental aspects, such as cultural identity and cinema, which are so palpable in his works, especially his latest publication in our country, *My Heart Is a Chainsaw*, not forgetting his acclaimed novel *The Only Good Indian*. Tim Pratt (published in Spain by La máquina que hace Ping), the third key figure of this event, is world-renowned for his short stories. With an incredible literary and publishing career behind him, Tim is currently a senior editor at the prestigious magazine *Locus*, as well as a regular on the juries of various literary awards. His novels about Marla Mason, a kind of sorceress and investigator of the occult, have made him famous among his readers, in addition to the now-traditional Christmas stories with which he surprises his fans every year. Three outstanding figures representing contemporary fantasy literature, with whom we had the opportunity to chat during the celebration of the fifteenth anniversary of the Sui Generis Madrid festival. Marjorie Eljach, director and producer of Sui Generis Madrid, along with David Hidalgo, the festival's literature coordinator, moderated a fresh and current debate on their approaches to literature. Our invaluable and highly professional English-to-Spanish interpreters were Sofía Rhei and Virginia de la Fuente. #suigenerismadrid #sheridanlefanu #paultremblay #stephengrahamjones #timpratt
