Cost of Living to Improve, Says NALUMANGO

By Wilson Mulinda Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO says the cost of living will improve significantly if President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA is re-elected for a second term. Mrs. NALUMANGO says Government is aware of the economic challenges facing many households but has taken decisive steps to address the factors driving the high cost of living. Speaking on Hot FM's Red Hot Breakfast programme, Mrs. NALUMANGO said exports have increased, mining revenues are rising and industrial growth is gathering pace following Government's efforts to restore economic stability through debt restructuring. She said the country has created more jobs across various sectors than at any other time since Zambia attained independence. Mrs. NALUMANGO also said the country's foreign reserves have previously been used to cushion the impact of unforeseen events. She cited the recent drought as an example, saying the reserves enabled Government to provide relief assistance and prevent hunger-related deaths.
