Mining is commonly presented as a promise of development and guaranteed employment, despite the threats it poses to the lives of miners and to the land and its natural cycles, as it symbolizes the sacrifice of water, soil, and biomass. This decision places Coahuila in the role of a sacrifice zone, as it is depriving the state of sustainable alternatives.
