Teenager's Last Day in Prison - Behind Bars: Prison Transfer

From our Archive: Viewers have seen several videos on this channel of Colt. We met Colt when he was 15 years old and had just entered adult prison with a 25 years sentence. Over the course of the next 10 years, we not only stayed in touch with Colt--he became like family to us. During the course of following Colt throughout his time in prison, we watched him become an extraordinary young man. He gained his college education behind bars, and stayed committed to helping other young prisoners adapt to life behind bars. During his incarceration, Colt became cellmates with another teenager you've seen on our channel -- Miles Folsom. Colt and Miles became like brothers while they served their time. They remain best friends today. In this video from our archive, our cameras were at Wabash Valley Correctional Facility the day Colt was transferred from Wabash to another adult prison in the state of Indiana. It was a nerve racking day for all involved. It was also the day Colt had to say goodbye to Miles after the two had been cellmates for over 3 years. This raw footage shows the process behind prison walls as Colt talks to prison staff and prepares for the day ahead. We interview Colt the morning he prepares to pack all his things, then follow him back to his cellblock. Once inside, he and and Miles prepare for their last day in the same prison together. We then see them walk through the prison yard with all of Colt's belongings in a cart. Once at the back gate, Colt goes through the transfer process -- changing into a new jumpsuit, being shackled alongside other prisoners preparing to transfer out, and finally, escorted into the van for the long drive to a new prison. UPDATE: Colt served over 10 years in prison, was a model inmate, gained his education behind bars, worked a job and mentored others. He was released in 2019 and is doing great today. Along with a full time job, he has also started his own personal training business, a goal he dreamed of as far back as his first year in prison.
