Håkan Berglund - More variation with inspiration from forest ecology and data on red-listed species

Clear-cutting has long been claimed to mimic the dominant natural disturbance regime in the Nordic boreal forests. This has been revised! Håkan Berglund lectures on how management and forests can get more variety with inspiration from forest ecology and data on red-listed species. From the conference proceedings: "In their natural dynamics, boreal forest is shaped by more variable disturbances than previously understood. Second, such diverse dynamics maintain old forests and their complex structures as key components of naturally dynamic landscapes.” "Current understanding of boreal forest ecology, but also data on red-listed species, may inspire ecosystem-based management and ecological restoration."
