Snow Patrol, Meet & Greet Story, Biloxi 5/19/2012

TRANSCRIPT (as close as I could get it) So can I tell you a story? So we were backstage, and every day we have to do a meet & greet. Which is... competition winners come in -- they uh, like people who phoned into radio shows or whatever come to meet us and we take a picture. Simple. We just did one there tonight, and the first few girls to come up -- I had just been on the phone with someone and was kind of upset about something. And I wasn't even in the room yet, so I was kind of like, whatever, the meet and greet, I don't wanna do this... You know, some days you don't fucking wanna do it, you know? Every day (applause) ....so the girl walks up the side and Tom is over to the side and he shakes her hand and out of the corner of my eye, she has obviously come up to shake my hand but I haven't really done anything. I'm really not a rude person; I would always shake someone's hand. But I just see her drop her hand abruptly to her side and she goes "whatevs." So, like I was already annoyed, and now somebody said "whatevs" which is like the worst thing anyone could say to me in the situation. So instead of what I would normally do, being a gentleman I would go "I'm really sorry, I'd like to shake your hand, do you still want to shake mine, this is all cool, don't worry about it," but instead, being a child, I went, "whatevs." This escalates the matter somewhat. And she says "I don't even know who you guys are!" Not outside the realm of possibility. So, I'm thinking, in my head I'm thinking, well, what the fuck are you doing here? I don't say that, I take the high ground, and say "I don't know who you fucking are!" Not my finest hour. I would like to apologize to that woman wherever she is...now everyone's waving it's me it's me...no it's not. She's probably not here, but if she is here, bless you for coming after that. Also, I apologize. This song is for you. Let's be friends. In fact, let's get married.
