Listening Clay

Jeremiah 18:3-4 "So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him." Left out in the winter rain Freezing in the soil, fermenting in the pain The seasons change, the frost will thaw Breaking down the stubborn, bending to the law The artisan takes the earth in his hand A lump of chaos waiting for command Does the dirt resist the wheel? Does it fight the hands it cannot feel? Yield your heart to the maker's touch When the pressure pulls, it hurts so much! Shaped by God! From the broken clay! The wheel spins fast, stripping flaws away! Like clay in the hand of the potter’s might He crushes the dark to reveal the light! Molded! Refined! Under His design! Walk down to the potter’s house Watch the vessel mar, silent as a mouse The craftsman struggles with the twisted form He doesn't cast it out into the storm He tears it down to build it back again Purging out the wreckage and the hidden sin Does the dirt resist the wheel?
