Throughout Russia, the Bolsheviks hunted down members of the Romanov family during those days. Eighteen members of the dynasty and countless people from their circle fell victim to them. However, some managed to flee the country in time. Around 60 members of the Tsar's family live scattered around the world today. The filmmakers visited the descendants of the Romanovs. The elderly brothers, Prince Nicholas and Prince Dimitri, offer personal and insightful perspectives on their family history. The fate of the Tsar's family continues to haunt them, and they have actively contributed to its investigation. Chief investigator Vladimir Solovyov vividly recounts how this century's most brutal and enigmatic murder was solved. Xenia Sfiris, the great-niece of the last Tsar, bears witness to life at the Russian imperial court. She recounts firsthand her grandparents' memories of the imperial family and of Rasputin, the Tsar's whisperer, who was legendaryly murdered in her grandparents' house with the involvement of her grandfather.
