As a 16 year anniversary gift to ourselves, Linda and I escaped our 4 children and went to Key West to take a charter to fish the Dry Tortugas. We went out with Delph Fishing charters, which is ran by the two very young sons of famous Captain Billy Delph, son of legend Ralph Delph. The famous captains of which the Delph Fishing name come from are not the ones who will take you out. After going over some minor confusion of captains and mates for the trip, we were offshore headed to the Tortugas. This was actually our first private fishing charter we have ever been on, and it was quite different than the experience I have shown my clients on my charters. The ocean was as flat as it could get and the weather was perfect. Although rods and reels were provided as part of the service, we brought our own. The preferred bait for this trip was pin fish and was provided by the captain on the way out to the fishing location. We didn't waste any time once we hit the fishing grounds. Rods and bait were ready and it was time to fish. The young captain had his marks where good numbers of big fish were and we capitalized on those for the time we had. Although one of our crew got quite sea sick, which brought the trip to end a bit early, we caught some very nice fish and brought home dinner.
