However, as they grow older, these aspirations often fade away, and they forget about their dreams. Yet, there are instances where those who yearned to be heroes were subjected to injustice throughout their lives, causing their spirits to falter and ultimately leading them down a path of villainy. The true measure of a hero or a villain lies not in the words written about them. Neither is it the grandeur of their deeds or the magnitude of their power that determines their true nature, but rather the intentions behind their actions, the impact they have on those around them, and the integrity of their character, that is what defines their true nature. Heroes and villains are not born, but rather shaped by the choices they make and the circumstances they find themselves in. As a child, Issei Hyoudou aspired to become a hero, harboring immense admiration for their noble deeds, which was only surpassed by his deep affection for his parents. However, that was not the path he was meant to take in this universe. Issei was eventually granted his wish of becoming a hero. However, soon after, he learned the price of it: "People may enjoy heroes and find them entertaining for a while, but what they truly love is witnessing a hero's failure, downfall, and even their demise, regardless of all the good they have done." Issei experienced this harsh reality first-hand, and it deeply wounded him. He swore to never become a hero again, but his morality and good heart wouldn't allow him to turn a blind eye to those in need. Instead of becoming the villain or continuing to try to be a hero, Issei chose a different path that he had passed up long ago: to become an Eminence in Shadow. Issei has traveled down a road of hardship and cruelty, facing many trials and tribulations. But, over time and with some help along the way, he has managed to conquer them all.
