R09. Last Farewell, where did we sing it in 1978?
Comments on the channel recently, asking where the songs on the Last Farewell LP were sung, for the BBC LP record. Where did it happen. The Upper Hangar, HMS Ark Royal. 1100 men. (ish) one stormy evening at sea. The BBC came to record us, if memory serves me correctly, we were all very drunk and the BBC man couldn't keep us quiet between takes. There were two hangars under the flight deck. Upper & Lower. I can tell you 892 Squadron used the upper hangar. I know that because one evening in the Upper Hangar, I sat in a Phantom jet, in my apron, while the boys did an engine change. (sadly not my engine)
