Oil Painting timelapse | Underpainting using ink and Oil | Part 1

In this video timelapse I am sharing my approach to a new large detailed oil painting I'm working on these days. In this PART 1 of the video I documented all the steps I took to create an effective underpainting which allows me to establish close to correct values for different areas of the canvas while keep mantaining all the smallest details visible, which is going to be very useful for the second stage of the process. In order to do that I decided to use a slightly unconventional approach by mixing different tecniques, like using archival ink pens, indian ink wash, raw umber oil layers and lift out. ___ Chapters: 00:00 Setting up 00:20 Preparing Gesso 00:53 Priming and sanding 01:27 Pencil sketch 02:37 Archival ink - Reinforcing lines 04:43 Indian ink wash - Setting up basic values 05:35 Oil raw umber and solvent coat - Midtones 05:57 Lift out - bring back highlights 06:32 Erasing and whitening highlights ___
