北岳バットレス第四尾根①『Bガリー大滝とヌメヌメのヒドゥンスラブ』

September 4, 2024 My team leader and I attempted alpine climbing on the main ridge of the fourth ridge of Kitadake Buttress. The weather, which had been a concern after the typhoon, cleared up, and we climbed while enjoying spectacular views of the Southern Alps. It was thrilling! From Hirogawara, we spent the night at Shirane Oike Hut. We passed B Gully Otaki and then Hidden Slab to the base of the fourth ridge. We encountered smooth cracks, pyramid faces, white rock cracks, triangular vertical walls, matchbox cliffs, dead tree terraces...and then traversed the terrifying knife-edge ridge to Castle Hang. We were captivated by the spectacular view of Mt. Fuji as we looked back. We made small, detailed cuts with short ropes, It was an exciting multi-pitch alpine climb. The dawn view from Kata no Hut, with Mt. Fuji right in front of us, was incredible! Please take a look!
