The Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) is organizing a conference on solarpunk imaginaries, ecological transition, and desirable futures. A space to explore new ways of thinking, creating, and collectively building a fairer and more sustainable tomorrow. With the participation of: → Emilio Santiago Muíño, Senior Scientist at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) Panel discussion: → Gemma Barricarte, CSIC researcher and solarpunk artist → Carlos Moreno, researcher and member of Ecolojóvenes (Eco-Youth) → Sofía Barker, translator and co-creator of the URRAS writers → Alejandro Rivero, researcher at Complutense University of Madrid What is solarpunk? Solarpunk is a countercultural, literary, artistic, and sociopolitical imaginary that, worldwide, is inspiring an original and compelling ecosocial response to the climate and ecological emergency, social inequality, and threats to democratic quality. In contrast to narratives of collapse, it proposes a rapid and just ecological transition, based on cooperation, social justice and growth compatible with planetary boundaries.
