Il popolo di Cilla

We publish an excerpt from the meeting promoted on May 16 by the Cilla ODV Association, in collaboration with the Newman Association and the Piergiorgio Frassati Cultural Center, fifty years after Maria Letizia (Cilla) Galeazzi's ascension to heaven. As recounted in the book "Il popolo di Cilla" (by Primo Soldi with Adriano Moraglio, Rubbettino), Cilla's story is that of a fifteen-year-old girl and her encounter with Christ, recognized as alive and present in the "small, dear, shabby community." This encounter ignited in Cilla an intensity of life, capable of generating, even after her untimely death, a community and numerous charitable works that today spread throughout Italy.
