He remained active throughout his life and passed away in February 2024. While Mr. Itokawa is generally known for his portraits of Kansai folk musicians and entertainers, the "Yoshi Itokawa Photo Exhibition: Retrospective," held from May 14th to June 9th, 2024, utilized the unique characteristics of a university exhibition hall to create a photo exhibition overflowing with his artistic individuality, without being constrained by popularity. Despite being ill, Mr. Itokawa showed extraordinary enthusiasm for this exhibition, but unfortunately, it became a memorial exhibition. During the exhibition period, a related live event, "FUNKY DAYS LIVE!", was also held, and both the exhibition of works and the selection of performers for the live event were all planned and executed by Mr. Itokawa himself. This truly speaks to his determination to summarize his own career.
