DJI Neo 2's First Forest Adventure | Lessons from the Woods

Every adventure has a beginning, and this was mine. This flight marked my very first attempt at taking the DJI Neo 2 into a woodland environment. Up until this point, most of my flying had taken place in open spaces, but the forest presented an entirely different challenge. Tight gaps, changing light, dense tree cover and hidden obstacles transformed a simple flight into a valuable learning experience. As I explored deeper beneath the canopy, I quickly discovered that flying in the woods requires a different approach. Route planning becomes more important, visibility changes constantly and even maintaining a reliable signal can become part of the challenge. During this flight, I experienced a genuine signal drop, providing an early lesson in what it means to fly in a complex woodland environment. Looking back now, this adventure feels like the beginning of a much bigger journey. Many of the forest flights, wildlife encounters and woodland explorations featured on Altitude Drone today can be traced back to the lessons learned during this first flight among the trees.
