A low-pressure system expected to form over the Bay of Bengal may not intensify significantly, raising concerns over below-normal rainfall in Odisha over the next two weeks. According to weather experts, a cyclonic circulation has developed over the west-central to northwest Bay of Bengal, but if it develops into a weak low-pressure area, rainfall may remain limited to parts of southern and coastal Odisha. Experts believe rainfall activity could increase during the second week of July. Meanwhile, the Regional Meteorological Centre has issued weather alerts for the next three days. Orange Alert has been issued for 17 districts over the next 24 hours. Yellow Alert remains in effect for the remaining districts. On Monday, 9 districts are under Orange Alert. 21 districts are likely to experience rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
