How To Brew a Sweet Stout
https://thebeerjunkies.com/sweet-stout/ Welcome back to the Beer Junkies! Today we are brewing a sweet stout. The sweet stout is a rich, full-bodied, jet-black stout. It is loaded with excellent chocolate, coffee, and roasty notes. Follow along with us as we go through our recipe, water profile, mashing, mash out, sparging, the boil, the whirlpool, knockout, yeast, and the best part, the taste test! One thing I did not cover well enough in the video is the importance of lactose. Adding lactose in the last 15 minutes of the boil adds unfermentable sugars, building up the body and sweetness of the beer. We typically add the equivalent of 7% and 10% of the total grain bill.
