So was the life of Herbert Witshire Hamandishe Chitepo who was born into a pitiable family, on the 5th of June 1923, at Bonda in Inyanga district of Rhodesia. He had a fair share of education as he was enrolled into a missionary for his primary and secondary studies, he furthered in 1943 when he traveled to South Africa to enroll in Adams College to be trained as a primary school teacher. After completing his teacher's program, he decided to test his teaching skills by returning to Rhodesia where he taught for a couple of years before travelling back to South Africa to study English at Fort Hare University between 1947 and 1949.
