When Steve became interested in ops, he was advised by friends and came up with some changes that encourage more operational interest. The layout is dispatched by track warrants and features both Southern Pacific and Western Pacific, as well as the Alameda Belt Line, which interchanges with both the SP and Santa Fe. One of the sections on the layout was originally a 4x8 style layout from many decades ago. Steve found a way to retain this layout by incorporating it into the overall track plan.
