The apartments in this estate are often too small and uncomfortable. They all speak of their hardships, their anger, and their desire to go home. The report, divided into chapters, alternates between images of the residents in their daily lives and their interviews about the living conditions in the estate, the difficulties in getting social housing, the racist reactions of the French, the hope placed in coming to France, and the desire to return home. These residents contract illnesses due to their poor living conditions (notably tuberculosis).
