LAU 2056-S "Super Twenty" Box Fan with Thermostat Control
An LAU "Super Twenty" box fan model 2056-S. This is a 3 speed model with thermostat control. The unit utilizes a Fasco shaded pole motor. This is a very early box fan that likely dates back to the 1950s. It is extremely heavy and just as powerful. It still runs perfectly smooth to this day and is exceptionally quiet. The blade set has very interesting aerodynamics and appears as though it was designed to potentially be reversible. This was definitely a higher end model, but it's possible there was a tier above even this model that was also electrically reversible. This fan is another project I intent to complete this Spring. I have many box fans that I've yet to get to, mostly because I previously had no use case for them. Now that I have several large areas, mostly the living room, I will be getting a lot more use out of very powerful fans like this.
