ПАМʼЯТІ ІГОРЯ МАЛАХОВА

On April 21, we said goodbye to Igor Malakhov, our colleague, friend, documentarian, historian, and an integral part of the Babylon'13 film association. In his films, he opened Kyiv to Kyiv residents, and Ukraine to Ukrainians. From 1997 to 2000, he worked as deputy director of the Oleksandr Dovzhenko Film Studio, responsible for the direction of young cinema. In 2016, the director's film "Music Lessons" received an award at the Odessa Film Festival. Among his other works are "My Destiny. A Dream", "The Voice of Donbass", "How the War Began. Chronicles, Witnesses", etc. He could have continued to work in archives, write scripts, or teach. But when the question arose of what would happen to these stories tomorrow, Igor chose to be their defender. In the fall of 2023, at the age of 57, he joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On December 29, 2023, Igor Malakhov died in battle near Stepov in the Donetsk region. Months of waiting ended with painful certainty, but they did not change the main thing: Igor remained with us forever. Thank you for every frame and for every choice. Bright memory and honor.
