We Didn't Expect Cape York to Look Like THIS...

Five years after our first trip to Cape York, we're already discovering this adventure is nothing like we expected. After leaving our first camp beside the Kennedy River, we continue our journey north expecting rough tracks, relentless corrugations and the challenges Cape York is famous for. Instead, we're greeted with smooth red dirt roads, stunning scenery and some of the most enjoyable touring we've experienced anywhere in Australia. Along the way we stop at the iconic Hahn River Roadhouse to top up with diesel before calling into Murchison Station, where we're greeted by a freshwater dam... packed with freshwater crocodiles! It's another reminder that in Cape York, even the places that look inviting can have a wild side. As the convoy pushes further north, Cape York reminds us that even the easiest days can take an unexpected turn when one of our caravans develops a frustrating electrical issue. Travelling with three caravans to the Tip of Australia isn't something many people recommend, but every kilometre continues to show us a different side of Cape York. The roads, the scenery and the incredible camps are proving this part of Australia is so much more than just a challenging four-wheel driving destination.
