Arborist/Rock Climbing Knot - The Zeppelin Bend Knot
Knot tying video tutorial. Learn how to make a Zeppelin bend knot . Easy step by step instructions for tying a Zeppelin bend knot in this guide. The zeppelin bend or Rosendahl bend is a very symmetrical, high security, stable and strong knot to join two ropes together. Its most impressive features are its strength and how easy it is to untie even after the heaviest of loadings, making it an ideal knot in arboriculture for heavy rigging. I have shown it tied flat for ease of showing how the knot is tied but it can also be tied in the hand. It is a good alternative to the more popular double fisherman’s knot or the figure eight bend because it is so much more jam resistant. It belongs to a family of similar knots including the Ashley bend, the alpine butterfly bend and the hunters or riggers bend, all of which incorporate interlocking overhand knots. Its uses include joining two ropes together for longer abseil/rappel descents in rock climbing and mountaineering. It can also be used in tree climbing for joining rope for single rope technique (SRT) in tall trees. ~-~~-~~~-~~-~ Splicing three strand rope is easier than you think. learn how in my most popular video. • "Easy To Follow" - How To Tie An Eye Splic... ~-~~-~~~-~~-~
