18 year old students just discovered a proof of Pythagoras that mathematicians said was impossible

This is a truly remarkable story. A textbook said that it was impossible to prove the Pythagorean Theorem from trigonometry alone. Two US students questioned this claim and developed a new trigonometric proof.
