Swiss and French Alps | Full Movie | Tour 1 | Tandem Cycling Adventure

This was our first self-guided tandem cycling adventure in the Alps. Our love of the Tour de France drove us to give it a try. We had to spend some time in the Swiss Alps because Switzerland is a postcard at every turn. So we landed in Geneva and rode to Gstaad over the Col du Pillon and Col de la Croix. Then we spent time in Lauterbrunnen--the real life pattern for Rivendell! Other notable climbs in Switzerland included the Sustenpass and the Grimselpass. Glorious. Then we rode past Mont Blanc and enjoyed lots of French climbs including the Col de la Colombiere, Col des Aravis, Col des Saisies, Cormet de Roseland, Col du Telegraphe, Col du Galibier and Alpe d'Huez. We loved every minute of it finally ending up in Paris (by train) for a few days of sightseeing. We love everything mountains, castles, fortresses, churches, ski villages, ice cream, pizza and bread. Self-guided bicycle touring from point to point with just our tandem bicycle, the bare necessities and a credit card is an experience we highly recommend. Working, seeing, eating, sleeping.
