The West Java Regional Police held a reconstruction of the torture and confinement case perpetrated by suspect Taufik Hidayat against the victim, identified as YTR (29), on Thursday (July 2, 2026). The reconstruction was crucial in uncovering the detailed chronology of events that occurred at several crime scenes (TKP). The reconstruction began at around 10:00 a.m. and concluded at 1:30 p.m. WIB at the West Java Regional Police's PPA-PPO Building. The suspect appeared wearing an orange prison jumpsuit, handcuffed, and a white peci (traditional Indonesian cap). Numerous parties attended the event, including Agus Setiadi, Assistant for General Crimes at the West Java High Prosecutor's Office, investigating prosecutors, legal counsel for the victim and suspect, and Sri Nurherwati, a representative of the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK). The Director of Investigation at the West Java Regional Police's PPA-PPO, Senior Commissioner Rumi Untari, explained that the reconstruction aimed to reconcile the suspect's statement with the facts on the ground and clarify the sequence of events. During the process, the victim was not present in person and was replaced by a role-playing witness. "Thank God, there was no resistance from the suspect, and the suspect confessed to all his actions at the six crime scenes," said Rumi. The reconstruction proceeded smoothly without any significant obstacles, and was supervised by various relevant parties to ensure transparency in the legal process. This case involved six crime scenes. However, in the reconstruction, only three crime scenes were reenacted live because they were considered the primary locations where serious acts of violence occurred. These three main crime scenes were located in Bandung Regency: Cilengkrang, Ciwaru, and Cinunuk. In total, 21 scenes were reenacted in the reconstruction to fully illustrate the chronology of events. The reconstruction revealed several forms of violence perpetrated by the suspect against the victim. Rumi stated that the abuse escalated from crime scenes 3 to 6. Some of the forms of violence reenacted included: Beating with a helmet; Beating with a metal table leg; Slashing with a machete. Rumi also explained that by the final scene, the victim was already blind due to the violence she experienced. During the reconstruction, no scenes suggestive of sexual violence were found. However, the police confirmed that this aspect is still being investigated. "Currently, there are none, and it's still in process. Earlier, we discussed it with the prosecutors and the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK). We agreed to continue investigating and seek additional evidence. If further evidence is found, we will add charges against the perpetrator," said Rumi.
