What 10 Minutes Inside a Volcanic Vent Actually Feels Like #OceanArt #gameart

Most digital artists look at scans of a place. Jacob Kudsk Steensen dives into them. For his work Psychosphere, Jacob dove into one of only four locations on Earth where you can enter a submarine volcanic vent at human depths — a 16-by-16-foot hole near the Azores where gases dissolve rock into organic matter. You can only stay for 10 minutes. The sulfur stays on your skin for three days. In this clip, I ask him what that actually feels like — and how that sensory, embodied experience becomes the foundation for work that most people will only ever encounter through a screen.
