Oral History with JFK Assassination Eyewitness Mary Pillsworth

This interview featuring Kennedy assassination eyewitness Mary Woodward Pillsworth in conversation with Stephen Fagin was recorded at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on November 21, 2013. A women's news reporter at The Dallas Morning News in 1963, Pillsworth witnessed the assassination from the north side of Elm Street and can be seen in the Abraham Zapruder film. She immediately wrote an eyewitness account that was published in her newspaper. The following year Pillsworth joined the Peace Corps and served in Brazil. Ms. Pillsworth passed away in 2017 at the age of 77. The Oral History Project at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza explores the life, death and legacy of President John F. Kennedy and the broader history and culture of the 1960s. These candid, informal interviews offer unique personal insight into that turbulent decade and the local—and global—impact of the Kennedy assassination.
