How to replace defective encoders RockTron Prophesy electric guitar rack effect preamp

Solid State Sinema is back! Years back, I performed warranty repair for the Rocktron corp. Changed a lot of encoders on their various products. Most due to physical damage. Now they are just wearing out. So, I came up with this easy technique that you can perform at home. It just requires some patience, decent soldering iron, some Chemtronics wick and steady hand. A fellow from Chicago contacted me about his intermittent Prophesy unit. I had the parts on hand, plus wanted to feature this unique repair, so here we go! It appears that these encoder failed simply from use. The Prophesy is in very good condition for being made in 1998. Most I see are pretty banged up, plus usually have unique smells from exposer to the world. As you know, this is not a normal D-lab video offering, but something I still enjoy working on. I will not work on pedals, but will support the higher end units as time allows. These days, I am very limited on time. Doing my best to keep up. Thank you for your patience.
