The Short Stop - de Havilland Dash 7
Join this channel to get early access to new videos a week ahead of their public release: / @rorymacve Greetings! :D Presenting an aircraft that was a decade ahead of its time, the de Havilland Canada DHC-7, better known as the Dash 7, attempted to create a brand new market segment by opening up inner city airfields and rural strips to the wider passenger market through a sturdy, low-speed turboprop with benign handling and superb robustness. Sadly, timing was not on the Dash 7's side, and the STOLport revolution de Havilland had banked on would not occur until ten years after the airliner's launch, by which time market dynamics and technology had rendered it largely obsolete, and thus meant there would be no last minute revival for the type, though this doesn't detract from the fact that the Dash 7 is one of the most superbly rugged and reliable STOL aircraft ever produced.
