Cocooning Brown Trout on the Dolomites

Cocooning project dedicated to the sowing of Fario trout in the crystal clear waters of the Ansiei stream in the Dolomites of Auronzo di Cadore and Misurina, in a breathtaking context. Project carried out by Bacino di Pesca 2 Ansiei, Mediterranean Trout Research Group, with the support of the Veneto Region and the Province of Belluno. A dream transformed into reality. The sowing of embryonated Brown trout eggs close to hatching was carried out using the cocooning technique. It involves creating an artificial nest with the gravel available on the river bed, trying to position it in the most favorable place for the trout. This technique allows embryonate eggs to be released into nature which will then undergo natural selection. At the end of the process, this technique allows you to preserve the rusticity of the material introduced. It is important to introduce fish that have indigenous genetics, but at the same time the ability to adapt to the environment, to colonize it and above all to resist environmental pressures.
