Statement by Rodolfo Tailhade, Representative for the Province of Buenos Aires. This corrupt judiciary has imposed harsher detention conditions on a former president of the nation than on all the imprisoned drug traffickers and all the repressors convicted of crimes against humanity. In other words, all those who murdered, kidnapped, tortured, and disappeared 30,000 of our comrades enjoy better conditions than a former president elected twice by the Argentine people. Clearly, the judiciary has acted with cruelty, attempting to humiliate her not only as a puppet but also out of sexism. While they act tough with Cristina, none of the drug traffickers and repressors dare to do the same to her. Look at the priorities of the Argentine federal justice system. It allows 98% of drug traffickers to receive unrestricted visits. That is to say, they are visited by their hitmen, their accomplices, their partners, their financiers. Even from prison, drug traffickers continue to run their gangs; imagine what it's like from house arrest with such generous visitation privileges. The same goes for the perpetrators of repression. They can receive all their convicted colleagues, those who remain unpunished, and calmly discuss how to continue concealing information about the whereabouts of the unidentified bodies of their comrades, and the location of information about the abducted children. The Court couldn't care less about the continued planning of drug trafficking activities or the continued cover-up of crimes against humanity. What worries them most is that Cristina Fernández de Kirchner might hold a political meeting from her place of house arrest.
