Next Wednesday (June 30th), the national entities of Psychology and Social Work will promote another live debate on social media about the regulation of Law No. 13.935/2019, which guarantees the presence of social workers and psychologists in the public basic education network. Promoted by the Federal Council of Psychology (CFP), the Federal Council of Social Work (CFESS), the Brazilian Association of School and Educational Psychology (ABRAPEE), the Brazilian Association of Psychology Teaching (ABEP), the Brazilian Association of Teaching and Research in Social Work (ABEPSS), and the National Federation of Psychologists (FENAPSI), the live event will address the professional responsibilities of these categories in basic education, in addition to presenting the 2021 version of the Guidelines Manual for the implementation of the Law. The document incorporates new elements, based on experiences implementing the Law in municipalities across Brazil, as well as the accumulated debates from public hearings and regional meetings. According to the organizing entities, it is crucial that psychologists and social workers follow the live stream, as the debate will provide updates on the progress of the fight for the implementation of the Law at the regional level. It is worth remembering that in April of this year, the entities promoted an activity with the Regional Councils of Psychology and Social Work (CRPs and CRESS), highlighting the importance of coordination in actions for the implementation of the Law and the fight for FUNDEB (National Fund for the Development of Basic Education). Since then, the regional councils have been promoting meetings, including training/capacity building sessions, on the role of psychologists and social workers in basic education.
