December 2025 - February 2026, St. Petersburg. After laying the floor tiles in the hallway, I began work on the slopes of the entrance door on the landing side. After dismantling the old entrance door, I needed to finish a section of the wall that had been knocked down to the brick. First, I installed markers and leveled the slopes themselves. I used tile adhesive for this purpose. After the mixture dried, I removed the markers and repaired the marks left by them. Since I needed to let the mixture dry, this work was done periodically, in between other work. The other work was preparing the base for laying the floor tiles in the hallway. Originally, when the flooring in the apartment was being restored, the plan was to create one large room. Therefore, the areas where the floor tiles were to be laid were made of gypsum fiberboard, and the areas where the laminate was to be laid were made of plywood. But during the work, changes were made to the original design, and the large room was partitioned off and divided into two. This meant that the apartment now had the hallway it currently has. The issue of the hallway flooring was resolved immediately. Initially, when the tiles in the hallway were being laid, the plan was to install laminate flooring in this hallway. But after the tiles were laid on plywood in the closet, the apartment owner decided to use this technology in this hallway as well. Epoxy parquet adhesive and tiles were purchased. Gradually, I alternated the work: after briefly working on the slopes, I continued working on the floor. In order to lay the tiles in this hallway, it was necessary to remove the existing connecting profiles. It was also necessary to consider the junction of the tiles with the brick wall. There was no baseboard planned, so we decided to cut a notch in the wall to conceal the edge of the tiles. Once all the prep work was complete, I began cutting the tiles. Since the adhesive can be used for up to half an hour after mixing, to ensure quick installation, I laid the tiles out completely over the entire floor and trimmed them where necessary. Then I removed all the cut tiles and began laying them using epoxy adhesive. I glued them in two stages: first one half, then the other. After the tiles were in place, I removed all dried epoxy adhesive residue and grouted the joints with cement. After the grout dried, I washed off any remaining cement residue from the entire surface and covered it with cardboard. Next, I adjusted the brick wall where the tiles met and applied black polyurethane sealant. This completed the installation of the floor tiles on the plywood floor. Meanwhile, the slopes on the landing side had already been completely plastered. On the inside, some work also needed to be done. I needed to cover the joint between the door frame and the jamb with a metal strip. I removed the remaining foam and coated it with polyurethane sealant. Next, I welded a metal strip around the perimeter. The metal frame, filled with concrete on the apartment side, needed to be painted with metal varnish. I applied two coats of varnish to the metal parts and one coat to the concrete. On the landing side, I filled and painted the jambs in two colors, according to the apartment owner's wishes. At the end of the video, you can see a clip where Grigory has already completed the painting work in the hallway, corridor, and rooms. The results will be shown gradually, as the laminate flooring is installed in the rooms.
