Influenced by this teaching, most kirin created a peaceful society under the leadership of the Crimson Priests. The priests eventually developed into a dynasty that expanded the kirin's power. But by the 9th century, social and economic changes weakened their power due to the rise of the bourgeoisie. The Kingdom of Kyria faced social conflict due to social stratification. Discontent among the lower classes resulted in peasant rebellions, exacerbated by the kirin's ability to transform into destructive niriks. Matriarch Noctilucent Charm instituted strict rules called the Silence. After the Matriarch's death, her daughter, Rain Shine, attempted to restore order by studying religious scriptures. A hundred years passed until diplomats from Equestria helped the Matriarch recognize the mistakes of the past and begin the process of reopening the country. Now Rain Shine faces the task of rebuilding her kingdom and bringing it into the modern era.
