白腹秧雞是在草地、溝渠、河濱、沼澤，以及公園和農地等鄰近人類區域處常見的中型似雞的沼澤性鳥類，常在開闊處覓食。以嘴喙在泥巴、淺水灘中找尋食物或直接目視啄食，也在地上、低灌木和小樹叢裡找尋食物，主要吃昆蟲、小魚和種子。 白腹秧雞築巢在沼澤植被的乾燥地點，一巢約6至7個蛋。 White-Breasted Waterhen is a medium-sized, chicken-like swamp bird commonly found in meadows, ditches, riverfronts, marshes, and areas adjacent to humans such as parks and farmland, often foraging in open areas. It uses its beak to find food in mud and shallow beaches or peck directly at it, and also forages on the ground, low shrubs and small bushes, mainly eating insects, small fish and seeds.
