【年末特番・前編】昭和天皇も御参拝なられた日本最古の神社　大しめ縄

Did you know that the giant shimenawa for Omiwa Shrine in Nara Prefecture is made on the first Sunday of December at Tokiwa Park in Yasaka-cho, Kishiwada City? This will be the 73rd time the shimenawa has been made, including the one made when Emperor Showa visited in 1984. A total of 70 people, led by Mr. Okita, are involved in the making. This year I was invited to go undercover for the first time to cover the event. This was my first time seeing the shimenawa being made, and I was amazed at how it's made! What's more, I was amazed at its size! Next week will be the dedication ceremony on site. Visitors will be able to join in the hanging, so if you're interested, please come!
