San Diego Naval Training Station
Included in this collection are early photos of San Diego’s Naval Training Station on Point Loma. Opened in 1923, the name of the facility was changed to Naval Training Center after WW2. Once home to over 33,000 sailors, NTC was closed in 1993 and is now a mixed use development known as Liberty Station. Many of these are rare images found nowhere other than the Rosemary Ann Phelan Photo Collection. The Rosemary Ann Phelan Photo Collection is a remarkable compilation of nearly 9,000 images of San Diego and environs prior to 1950. James Phelan has spent over a decade collecting these wonderful photographs and curating this trove of topical slide shows. Ocean Beach Historical Society is very proud to be able to host the Rosemary Ann Phelan Photo Collection. Ocean Beach Historical Society is a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation.
