Rolex Sea Dweller Deepsea [D-Blue Face] 116660 - Unboxing

For more information on this watch visit: https://www.iconicwatches.co.uk/ This is the Rolex Sea Dweller Deepsea, model number 116660 The outer box is white and features just a large embossed Rolex logo. The inner box is a luxurious green design with a gold Rolex badge and a wave effect on top. The guarantee card and instruction manual are stored neatly away in the lid of the box and, as with all Rolex watches, it offers a 5-year warranty. The first thing you will notice about this watch when you pick it up is the weight and thickness of the case. The reason for this is that this is a true dive watch made to withstand the pressures of extreme depths. It is waterproof to a stunning depth of 3,900 meters, a fact that suddenly makes the watch seem small and light considering its purpose. The case is made from 904L stainless steel to ensure it can withstand the extreme environment and remain resistant from corrosion. On one side of the case, you will find the winding crown, and the other a gas escape valve. During the time that deepsea divers spend in decompression chambers, they breathe a gas that contains helium. This valve allows any helium that has made its way into the watch to escape without damaging the mechanism. The Oyster bracelet is designed to be both robust and comfortable. It is equipped with an Oysterlock clasp, which prevents accidental opening, and allows fine adjustments of the bracelet without using any tools – which means it can easily be worn over a diving suit. THE TITANIUM CASE BACK enables the watch to resist the pressure exerted by water at great depths. The titanium is flexible thanks to the natural qualities of the alloy, making it extremely resilient to such huge forces. The Deep-Sea, Sea Dweller, was made to commemorate director, James Cameron’s, historic solo dive to the deepest place on earth: the bottom of the Mariana Trench. The face celebrates this with a two colour gradient that moves from brilliant blue to bottomless black. There is a date window at the 3 o’clock marker and clear luminescent hour markers at the 6, 9 and 12 positions. The black bezel allows divers to safely monitor their dive and decompression times and it features a knurled edge to allow it to be operated while wearing gloves. The face is protected by a domed, 5 mm-thick scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. This model is equipped with a calibre 3135, a self-winding mechanical movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. The 44mm face and thick case make this watch noticeably larger and heavier than many other Rolex watches. If you have wrists that are on the slimmer side, just be sure that you have tried it on to make sure that you are comfortable with a chunkier aesthetic and feel. If you are a fan of watches that are designed around functionality and especially if you are a keen diver, then this is an exceptional option with an interesting link to James Cameron and his epic adventure to the deep depths of the sea.
