WHIRLWIND 1640 | Entrevista | El Rock-Òdrom nº 325

WHIRLWIND: 1640 | Interview Since El Rock-Òdrom is a radio show that has slowly been building its path and has already accumulated quite a few interviews, it’s becoming increasingly common to have bands return. As bands add years to their career and releases to their discography, revisiting them becomes inevitable. This is the case with this week’s guests. Whirlwind first came to the station on El Rock-Òdrom nº 219 in November 2023 to talk about 1714, their debut album. Today, a hundred‑plus episodes later, Whirlwind return to the show the day after the release of 1640, their second record, brought to light by Dying Victims Productions. An album that once again revisits one of the most important historical events in the history of Catalonia: the Guerra dels Segadors (or War of Secession), within the broader context of the Thirty Years’ War between the Hispanic monarchy and France, which culminated in the Treaty of the Pyrenees and the subsequent amputation of Catalan territory—consequences that still resonate today. Focusing on what matters most in this case—the music—1640 follows the unmistakable trail of German heavy metal, with Running Wild as the most prominent reference, though not the only one. Recorded once again at Moontower with Javi Félez, Whirlwind are particularly pleased with the production quality of this second album. Represented today by Héctor Llauradó, Mark Wild, and Artur Julió, Whirlwind have shared a wealth of interesting insights that will keep you hooked on the interview until the very end. And, as is often the case with the bands who visit us, Whirlwind have brought a gift to be raffled among all of you: a CD copy of 1640. To participate, you must send an email to [email protected] answering the question posed by our guests during the interview. You have until Friday, May 1st at 20:00 to send your answer. Don’t miss today’s El Rock-Òdrom! Make sure you listen!
