👣Walk with Me in Oslo in a Beautiful Autumn Afternoon | 4K HDR | September 2024👣 The street "Henrik Ibsens gate" is in the city center district, in "Sentrum" and "Frogner", from "Karl Johans gate" to "Solli plass". It got its name in 2006 after the writer "Henrik Ibsen" (1828–1906), who in the last years of his life lived on the corner of the street in "Arbins gate". "Henrik Johan Ibsen" was a Norwegian playwright and theatre director. As one of the founders of modernism in theatre, Ibsen is often referred to as "the father of realism" and the most influential playwright of the 19th century, as well as one of the most influential playwrights in Western literature. Until the Ibsen anniversary in 2006, the street was called "Drammensveien", and there was some resistance to changing the name of such a central street with such an established name. The street with Henrik Ibsen's name passes the "Ibsen Museum", with the poet's last home in "Arbins gate", where he lived from 1895 to 1906. The "Ibsen Museum" has thus gained an entrance from Henrik Ibsen's gate 26, but retains its former office entrance and postal address at Arbins gate 1. The "National Library", which is located on the other side of "Solli plass", and is actually situated with the facade facing "Drammensveien", applied for an address at "Henrik Ibsens gate", and was also allowed to link to the new street name. "Bygdøy alle" is a street on Frogner in Oslo _1,400 meters long _ that runs from "Solli plass" to "Sjølystveien" at the exit to Bygdøy. This street was planned in 1889 as a Parisian boulevard _ built in 1890 _ but the politicians thought it was too expensive, and reduced it to half the width. Only at "Frogner Church" can you see how wide it really was supposed to be. "Bygdøy alle" is known for the large chestnut trees that adorn it, and the lower part in particular also represents the rapid urban development in Oslo with lavish and fashionable four-story brick courtyards and a number of good examples of Art Nouveau buildings.
