She accepts a ride and finds herself in Venice, a place she's never been before and feels she wants to stay. She meets Fernando, a strange waiter of Icelandic origins but a cultured expert on Italian poetry, and moves in with him. She also becomes friends with Grazia, a neighbor who is a beautician and masseuse. Meanwhile, her husband Mimmo sends Costantino, an employee with investigative ambitions, to Venice to track down Rosalba. Costantino manages to find her, but in the meantime he has met Grazia, and the two fall in love. For Rosalba, however, her vacation seems over: her husband's lover will bring her back to Pescara, tired of occupying the space she's left vacant. But in Pescara, Fernando comes looking for her and declares his love...
