Pijn in je benen na het hardlopen?
Running is a great sport for getting off to a healthy start. You feel physically better after a short run, and running also helps clear your head. The only downside to this wonderful sport is that it is prone to injury. It is not uncommon to experience leg pain after running. 00:00 - PAIN IN YOUR LEGS AFTER RUNNING? Whether you have just started running or have been running for years, there is always a chance that you will experience leg pain after running. With some aches and pains, you can continue running just fine, while others require absolute rest. In this video, I explain what you might experience, how to prevent it, and what you can do to recover quickly. 01:14 - THREE DIFFERENT TYPES OF AIN AND PAIN Actually, you can categorize leg pain after running into 3 different categories. Once you know which category the pain falls into, you usually know what to do to recover quickly or how to prevent it in the future. The three categories are: Skin irritation Muscle pain Early running injury 02:49 - PAIN IN YOUR LEGS DUE TO SKIN IRRITATION Burning pain in your legs after and during running is usually caused by skin irritation. Running creates a lot of friction between your skin and running clothes or shoes. This friction irritates your skin, causing burning chafing or blisters. Treat these areas well before you go running again. You don't want them to become infected, because that would make things worse. You can prevent skin irritation by applying Vaseline or plasters to the affected areas preventively. 04:36 - MUSCLE PAIN AFTER RUNNING Muscle pain is familiar to everyone. This pain often arises after strenuous activity. If you have just started running, you will likely experience this pain in your legs after every run. Fortunately, muscle soreness is harmless, and your muscles recover quickly. You can even go running with muscle pain, but do run a shorter loop at a slower pace. If you have just started running, take at least 1 day of rest after every training session. This gives your legs sufficient time to recover from the muscle pain. 06:00 - PAIN IN YOUR LEGS AFTER RUNNING DUE TO A BEGINNING RUNNING INJURY Are you suffering from leg pain after running that doesn't fit into the top two categories? There is a good chance your legs have become overloaded. Do you feel a stabbing pain in your hip, knees, shins, ankles, or feet, especially around a tendon, joint, or bone? Then take absolute rest to recover. If you keep running, there is a chance you will cause a running injury. Once pain-free? Then you can start running again. Build it up gradually and be careful. If you feel the pain returning, stop immediately and rest again until the pain is gone. Would you like to learn more about various running injuries and how best to prevent them?
